Lemos&Crane presents The Acorn Awards – offering total prize money of £1,500 - for projects that use nature to enhance and improve the lives of vulnerable or socially excluded people, generating positive outcomes such as health and well-being, new skills and knowledge, new relationships, and a sense of purpose and belonging.

The Hyde Group – The Enchanted WoodlandHyde Group

Transforming a neglected and fly-tipped ancient woodland area into the ‘Enchanted Woodland’ including creation of a community led development trust to own, manage and enhance the area, for use by the local community in the Temple Hill area of Dartford, Kent.

Dementia Adventure CIC - Wandering in the Woods 

Re-connecting people living with dementia in care homes with nature and in particular with woodlands.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

East Kent Mencap - Bird Diaries

East Kent Mencap

East Kent Mencap’s Photography Group members with learning disabilities are monitoring bird activity at Sandwich Bay Bird Observatory Trust by taking photographs of the birds, which are used for the Trust’s records and are viewed by visitors to the Trust. This year the project was funded by the Nicky & Eileen Barber Charitable Settlement.

 

 

 

 

HMP Guys Marsh – Biodiversity Corridor

A series of individual areas that together form a ‘Biodiversity Corridor’; designed to broaden offender learning, create habitats and support an increasing variety of wildlife.

 

 

St Mungo’s – The Big Grow

St Mungos

A social enterprise built around green woodcrafts, growing plants, sustainable woodworking and keeping small scale livestock, for people with long term mental health issues promoting independent living, widening horizons and helping build communities.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Threshold – Gone Fishing

Threshold

Gone Fishing works with vulnerable people and uses sport and nature to promote the environment, self help, create pro-social networks and build confidence, all set in an "oasis of calm."
