The NEW concept of a Good Prison, in addition to the more mainstream forms of support, seeks to develop the activities and attitudes below:
If prisoners are going to turn their lives around for good, time in prison needs to be an opportunity for prisoners to think about their lives in a different way. Life, relationships and activities in prison should help the prisoner to build a commitment to the person they intend to become building on the best aspects of themselves while reducing the impact and consequences of past offending and negative behaviour.
If you work in a prison or a young offender's institution, or for an organisation that works in prisons, you are invited to join with other professionals interested in discussing and developing activities and attitudes of a Good Prison.

PrisonerActionNet and the Good Prison are commissioned by The Monument Trust and are based on research conducted by Lemos&Crane in conjunction with Clinks, the national membership body for voluntary and community organisations in the criminal justice system.
